pattinaggio sul ghiaccio
This year's Christmas ice skating rink at the Auditorium Parco della Musica no longer occupies the cavea, rather a much wider space in front of the ReD cafè.
This series was shot last weekend.
I'm happy I caught the smiles and happiness of these three kids, drenched and giddy, in thier rented skates and loose-fitting elastic clothing.

Looks like they are having fun in their bright orange skates!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE SKATING!!!
ReplyDeleteE bellissima, patinare e una cosa stupenda :)
Love the ORANGE skates! Looks like a fun, fun time! I wonder if our outdoor ice skating rink is ready yet...
ReplyDeleteIt is great to iceskate - I learned to run as a child. At wintertime we often had ice and good possibilities to get fresh air and cold fingers. I do very well know what the smiles are all about.
ReplyDeleteThe orange skates are a hoot! Makes everything that much more cheerful.
ReplyDeleteWe have a skating rink on the island this year. We might give it a try. I am sure I will spend most of my time sitting on the ice.
ReplyDeleteLois~
ReplyDeleteIf I could have reproduced the sounds that go with these images: music and laughter!

I was a natural as a child, now I'm a little nervous when blading... ;)

These kids make it look like so much fun. Sure beats watching TV and playing videogames!

Jørgen~
That's one thing I envy polar climate, the inborn skiing and skating children grow up with.

ODP~
Exactly! They all remind me of Tigger (Pooh's friend).

One word of advice: wear gloves, then! Cheers
I am amazed you can have outdoor ice. Here in Minneapolis it is normal, of course. It looks like the guys had a great time.
ReplyDeleteHey! Anyone want to meet in Rome for a picnic in late April? I'll be there on the 20th, staying for a week. Maybe the weekend of 23/24? (No pressure on our hostess, of course!!) Think about it...?
What a great blog! I will put a link on my blog soon!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can help me???
We can win 50 iPhones
I’m joining a Network Challenge here in the Netherlands for 2 weeks now, but the new challenge is going international:
Help! Who can take a picture (this week a.s.a.p.), with a local newspaper and a sign that says ‘MacTexel” on it in one of these places?
• Colosseum, Rome, Italy
Let me know if someone can arrange this
What a happy fun post!
ReplyDeleteI haven't skated in 10 years and it was at Rockefeller Center in NYC. I fell 5 times but had a smile on my face!
Ahhh, the joy of children! Isn't it great to live again through their eyes. I love candid shots.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your loved ones the very best of the holiday season! May it be filled with love and laughter and many blessings.
Merry Christmas Eleonora, and all you fans of Rome Every Day.
ReplyDeleteHope for peace on earth.
Jeff
Love all the orange skates!
ReplyDeleteSkating seems like almost a lost art - nice to see it still exists - even in Roma!
ReplyDeleteThe orange skates - well - no one will steal them without being noticed.
Orange skates versus the silver skates - what has this world come to?
We have an outdoor rink here in Montana. I remember outdoor rinks in Minnesota too Jeff - College Lake and Mitten Pond in Excelsior...and Lake Minnetonka before the snow fell. We skated from Excelsior Bay to Wayzata Bay one full moon.
And Happy New Year to you all!
