Just as I was saying good-bye to some friends visiting from LA after a gargantuan gelato session, a buzzing platoon of Vespa scooters zoomed by. They all had numbers on the front, so maybe it was some sort of competition. Judging from the models, it was probably for vintage classics.
Check out the cream-colored one equipped with sidecar... Also, I think I spotted a Lambretta out there somewhere...
Ah, bliss. Almost better than gelato.
This post is dedicated to my vespa-buddy, CHUCK
Thanks, Lola! Fun group of vintage wasps -:) Interesting to note the side-car mounted to the left of the scooter. Most I've seen are to the right of the scoot. Looks like a rally of some sort. I'd certainly feel right at home!
ReplyDeleteGrazie!
A Lambretta! Now, that's a treat!
ReplyDeleteVroom, vroom - fun to zip around on one of those! I've only seen a few Vespas over here....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful old scooters.
ReplyDeleteCostas
ChuckP~ Maybe it's a British owner... ;)
ReplyDeleteRosaria~ I know, I love vintage Lambrettas too!
Leif~ They're the best, ask Chuck!
Costas~ Wish I had one...
I hadn't realized there was a sidecar for a scooter.
ReplyDeleteRob~ Isn't the sidecar cool? I'd love to ride in that.
ReplyDelete«Louis» once saw a sight like this in San Francisco.
ReplyDeleteThis is really fun. I recall sitting on the Champs Elysees in Paris when a large group of bicycles rode by waving to the crowd. (Not the Tour de France!)
ReplyDelete«Louis»~ Wowza!
ReplyDeleteJeff~ I *love* Le Tour, I've only ever seen the live "Giro d'Italia" though.
Sorry I missed this, but I got a lot of colorful Vespas anyway...
ReplyDeleteVespas and Gelato what a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteHa! Lovely! If you didn't know, I left CDP to start a Vespa blog. You find it at: www.ystadonavespa.blogspot.com
