alba romana

5:36 a.m.

6:18 a.m.

{dawn in the ancient city}

Early morning light just begs to be photographed. Pictured in the two opening images, the Temple of Vespasian, Arch of Septimius Severus and the Temple of Saturn in the Roman Forum. Shown above is a shaft of dawn sunlight cutting across the Piazza del Campidoglio, on the Capitoline Hill.

  2. The portal is messed up again and your image is not displayed on it. This is a good idea, like Monet's paintings of of haystacks or the Rouen cathedral.

    By the way, what were you doing in the Forum at 5:36 AM?

  13. Stunning images! When on holiday it is best to rise early and witness the beautiful city. Although the early wake up call is difficult.

  15. Grazie for these images, they are splendid captures of a splendid city! Michelangelo's piazza definitely is one of the highlights of Rome.

    Dawn and sunset are also beautiful at the Pincio.
    The roofs kissed by the first rays of the sun, one by one, and then coffee and cornetto at Rosati, before the tourists hit. Come se fosse ancora gli anni di Dolce Vita, ma con protagonisti meno spettacolari.

    Dawns in Rome knows me.
    E' una meraviglia.

    Anyone visiting Rome should at least once during their stay, try to wake up early (not 5 am!) and peruse the city for amazing shots. The light is totally different!

    Ciao and again, GRAZIE!
