rossa!

hot rod

I have a new obsession, can you tell? My latest fixation is photographing old model Fiat 500 cars. They are so sexy!
Contrary to my first poser, this one's very well kept, and the paint job is fantastic. Pity it's parked in a way that the two trash bins block it completely from backing out and going for a spin!

  8. I love it! I had a 1975 Fiat X19 and it was this same color. It went really fast and I loved that car! Good memories.

  11. Hey 500 lovers, glad you could stop by!
Leif, I published your sweet comment, but Blogger ate it up :( don't know why.
Lois, I wonder what the Italian model equivalent to the X19 was... I bet she was a beauty!
Shelle, I drive a Smart car, and believe me NOTHING is scarier in rush hour traffic. This car at least has a back seat!
Kim and Ulla, come back soon!

  15. Cinque Cento. Love those cars! Can't blame you for stalking them. I do too, but they are few and far between here in the states.

However, I found lovely one in Sicily ... here's a link to a photo

  16. A real beauty. I'm glad you are out shooting them.
My dad had a Fico (I think it was a Zastava replica of this type of Fiat but not so stylish) in Yugoslavia in the late '60s. He was 6'2" tall and it was interesting to see him get into it.

  17. Ciao friends, thanks for your comments!
Tash, do you know what FICO means in Italian? Not only fig, as in the sweetest fruit, but also the adjective cool, or the more modern "hot" !!
Chuck, that one's a beauty. My passion started with a Sicilian 500 I will post about soon...
Carolyn, I didn't know Valeria shared my same passion!
    Kathy & Daylily, thank you!!
Paz & Unknown Mami, glad you agree with me!

    Ciao

  19. I also love Fiat 500's, even the new design although I did not like it at first.

I have a few photos I have taken of them since living in Italy' including an old purple one. So cute!

  20. The North Beach area of San Francisco was settled largely by Italian immigrants and even now retains a strong Italian 'flavor'. There is a Fiat 500 in North Beach painted the colors of the Italian flag. ;-)
